The us government has no authority over you moving away to another country. If you have just arrived on a marriage visa for example but are not yet a citizen, then you need a travel visa to leave and come back again. But if your really mean literally your question because you are a naturalized citizen, then the first sentance is correct. Go for it! Read the warnings about Nicaragua on travel sites and decide if you really want to go there, and once you are there if you would ever want to say to anyone that you were a US citezen!?! They really don't need to know this in a bar etc... One main legal ramification is that you are not likely to get a ton of social security money if you don't live, or work in the USA. Are you asking if you can return after many years of being away?-Does anyone know the answer to that? (I would think that if you are a citizen it cannot be taken away accept for criminal reasons-like lying on the original forms etc..) You always have freedom to leave here unless under indictment for a criminal offence where the judge ALSO takes your passport away.

Any idea what if someone leave US for some years and may keep the option open to come back later? Is it possible? Say somebody wanted to have a good life outside US but wanted to remain as US citizen?
