  • Unless you have proof that you are legally allowed to pick them up from the pharmacy yes.
  • Yes, However, you could pick them up at a pharmacy, if the person is unable to do it. They may not be opened up, or anything missing from the bottles etc. Your spouse could also get the meds for you.Good Luck..
  • Depends on the circumstances. Narcotics are a controlled substance and it is illegal to be carrying those without a prescription for yourself. There are a few exceptions and most times these can be easily verified. If you are the caregiver of the patient or parent/guardian of a minor who the prescription is for. If you are picking up prescription medication for someone unable to do so them self. Usually a cop will wave you on if you have the bag and or receipt from the pharmacy with today's date and the location of the drug store and where you are stopped makes sense. However the cop can make a big deal of it, call the patient and ask if you are supposed to be picking up their medications, etc. Cops and PO's are also understanding: Example: When my nephew was staying with us I was holding on to a bottle of narcotics for my sponsee who would come over for the daily amount per her dosage each day. This was part of her program of recovery, she couldn't trust herself to not abuse her medication, so I agreed to hold on to it so she would have to talk to me before getting too much medication - kind of an insurance policy against abusing her medication. My Nephew's probation officer stopped by and found the medication in the medical drawer. Questioning me and calling my sponsee and her doctor and finally agreed that it was "ok" in this case due to the situation of a drug addict trying to not abuse their drugs. Besides which the Nephew was staying with us, attending meetings and I was acting like a rehab center/halfway house in his program of recovery which was already discussed in person with his PO who agreed to his "program of recovery" with us. The PO did call the sponsee and her Doctor and learned quickly that what I said was truth. Besides my prescriptions for pain medication make her's look like candy. There was a "justifiable reason" for me to be holding her medication.
