On most occasions the psychological barrier once overcome reveals deliciousness - as was my experience with frogs legs, snails and sheeps eyes. The most foul thing I have ever tasted was Tripe. On no occasion have I ever felt compelled to eat something I don't like - I would rather just say politely, that this is not to my taste and leave it.

I can't really think of anything except three bean salad. I wouldn't eat that unless you had a big fat check to go with it. :)

I visited this country once, and one sauce smelled like superwet armpits. The hosts said the sauce was an integral part of the meal, so I was forced to dip stuff into it and eat them. I dealt with it by drinking lots of water after each bite. =)

All the time, when I was a kid. It's the way I was raised. Sauerkraut, salami, lima beans, stewed tomatoes, black eyed peas, tamales... all disgusting. But I was made to eat whatever was placed in front of me. Besides the "starving children in Asia" speech, I'd often get, "Well, if you're hungry enough, you'll eat it." Some of those foods, such as yams, I learned to like. Other foods many people hate, such as liver, broccoli and spinach, I always did like. But the ones listed above, I still can't stand, and I'm big enough now that nobody is going to force that stuff down my throat--or make me stay at the table until I finish every gagging bite. Good question. +
