Sure you can. The dog doesn't really speak your language in the first place. The dog is responding to visual or audio cues that are connected to some sort of reward or punishment. You can train a dog to respond to clicks, light-bulbs, words, or even certain hand motions. It's all about how you reinforce the behavior.
