Because we have the most developed cerebral cortexes of any animal. Simply said our brains, use of hands and the ability to walk upright give humans the utmost of edges. I believe that nearly 1/4 of our brain devoted to motor skills is just for our hands. Pretty impressive to know.

I believe this is because even though we do not have the most population but the best communication and knowledge. And who is to say we have the superior intellegence? -Jack

1.) We don't know that for sure. :) 2.) It's simply the survival characteristic that we ended up with. We don't have claws or sharp teeth, we don't have hard scales, quills, or poisons. We can't run very fast, and we are not that strong. We are very squishy, and rather tasty. Intelligence has allowed us to adapt and survive.
