  • Dude....you need to pick up the tab. Its as simple as that. Good Luck!!
  • This is just me - but I would pay the whole thing, you could let her get the tip if she wants, but don't ask her to.
  • I would plan on paying. She might make a move for the check, but make sure you grab it first. She'll offer and then decline- maybe she'll pick up the next one. If she wants to take care of the tip, let her- but don't ask her to. Unless she puts up a really big fight about paying the tab. Say something like "Okay fine. If you really want to help, would you like to take care of the tip?" Good luck!
  • Without any doubt or question: When you go "on a date with my new girl friend", you have to have the etiquette and money to pay for everything - "soup to nuts" ANS leave the tip. It shows respect and the fact you care. By the way, in my opinion, it doesn't make any difference if you are the same sex or not: "a date" is "a date". Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name!
  • If I were you, I'd pay for dinner and I'd also make sire I left a good tip. Nothing turns me off like a guy who's cheap.
  • Without a doubt pay for it...don't be a turd...I remember the first date I went on..I was so afraid maybe I should have money to pay ...let her know you are taking care of it so she doesn't have to worry and you'll have a nice time....

  • Wow, wow, a first date at an expensive restaurant? What are you doing, man? The point of a first date is just to see what she's like, and to do that in a fairly neutral and easy place that you (and she) can basically leave anytime you like, i.e. Starbucks or something along those lines. Sure you can take her to a fancy place, but most girls actually feel more at ease in places less formal than a fine restaurant. If the relationship takes off, you'll (hopefully) have plenty of time to take her there too. And for the first - and maybe the second - date, of course you pick up the check. That's good manners.
  • I think you should pay for it-tip and all.
  • I would never allow the woman to pay unless she is taking me out to celebrate and has insisted on paying as a treat.
