Doesn't a duplicate question, when asked of new people, produce new information that might otherwise be overlooked? AB seems to think duplicates are non-productive. What do you think?

I know there are a lot of question unanswered that I've never seen. There fore if someone ask them today they would be new to me and my first chance to answer!!!!!!!!!!! So it would not be a duplicate to any of the newbies!!!!!!!

Some fresh-sounding questions that turn out to be similar to an older one are redirected to it. You have a point there, specially when those have like say, 200 answers. Many good contributions will go unnoticed buried in that heap.

I find it odd that some questions are clssed as duplicates yet i have seen the same questions asked by different people posted two or three times that are not put down as duplicates.

It used to, but duplicate questions still annoyed the piss out of me. I like the way that all "duplicates" are consolidated so that you can get ALL the answers that have been given to a particular question and still clean up the clutter.

I've duplicated some questions, mostly because I want fresh answers and not ones from a year ago. I want to know what those who I am more familiar with think, instead of people who I've never met. Because you guys leave fun answers.
