The government did not shut down. Government offices and agencies may have. Do you remember when the federal government "ran out of money" back in the late 80's (I think?) The only office not to shut down was the Patent Office because it is actually a profit center. Whether closed to lack of funds, a need for an in-house service day, a special holiday etc, government offices shut down often. And, yes - it is ALWAYS when you need your drivers license renewed!!!!

I know that Michigan is having a lot of problems with it's government, but I did not know that it shut down. The problem with Michigan is that the people of that great state keep electing leaders that can not lead. They need to try a different direction.

They won't be shut down for long, because if they are shut down for an extended period of time, the people of Michigan will adapt and get by, then realize that they don't need as much state government as they pay for. It's in their best interests to resolve quickly.
