I Think I know why you're going, so your parents should be understanding of that. It also depends on what you lie about (meaning what you say in the lie).

Don't give them a reason, or be very vague rather than outright lying. Unless you are going for a reason they are going to find out about anyway like "Oh, by the way, I went to NY and now I'm married." Tell them upfront and deal with the consequences. If you are an adult and you are going for private reasons, then they don't need to know anyway. When I was around your age, I did some things or was planning to do some things that I told my mom about and she looked at me and said "You're an adult now, so I really have no idea why you're telling me this."

I thin you are an adult. Your parents cannot stop you from going even if you told them. If this is about a girl, then Ender, I suggest that you tell them when you BOTH (her and you) are comfortable with them knowing. Just...don't be too afraid.
