I have had a sore throat for 4 months! What's going on? How do I cure it?

    Get to a doctor ASAP. You should never let anything go this long. A sore throat of that length could be serious ( I don't mean to scare you but CANCER).

    I've found that gargling with warm salt water helps. Itchy throats are usually a result of allergies. If that's the case, you might want to try allergy medication. To soothe a sore throat, drink hot tea with lemon and honey.

    yikes!!! sore throats suck. okay, try gargling hot salty water at least 5 times a day. not too hot just hot enough so you can stand it. and lots of salt... then drink lots of liquids, tons of water at room temperature, stay away from cold liquids. hot chamomile tea with lots of honey and a squeeze of lemon is great.
    basically a sore throat is normally viral so you just gotta take care of it. don't smoke, breathe in through your nose, do as stated above and get lots of sleep. if it persists see a doctor.

    yeah, come to think about it 4 months is long time... GO TO A DOCTOR!!!

    Worst sore throat I ever had was for two weeks.
    If you smoke, quit smoking.
    Go to the doctor ASAP
    They'll see if they can cure it.

    Well I popped down to the surgery straight away and the nurse gave me penicillin which seems to have cleared up the infection. Many thanks all for pushing me to go and get it sorted.

    Could be a problem with the lymph nodes. Do you feel any swelling? Either way, go see a doc!
