  • My sure fire remedy is to get a lot of sleep (several days worth) and stay in bed until it goes away. You need to have someone bring you a cup of soup several times during the day, and some toast and juice once or twice a day. Also, keep a pitcher of ice water next to the bed and a cup with a straw, or a sippy cup. Drink several cups of water throughout.
  • Green tea with honey.
  • As far as medicine goes, DayQuil is usually pretty good at clearing up my symptoms. For sore throat aid, I use Ricola cough drops with honey, and I also like some warm lemonade or tea to soothe the throat. You might want to skip school or work for a few days, but if you can't, make sure to stock up on cough drops & tissues beforehand!
  • Dayquil is what I use for the daytime. Nyquil for the nights. +5

  • I like Alka-Seltzer Cold Remedy during the day to relieve the symptoms, then Ny-Quil (or one of the cheaper generics) at night to help me get some sleep.
  • Lots of OJ and hot soup
  • Hot black tea with ginger, lemon, honey. And when its bedtime, a shot of whisky or brandy in it.
  • Mine is Zicam. I take it when I notice my first cold symptom. That way my cold (or what might only be post-nasal soreness) only lasts for about 8 hours. I haven't had a fully-developed cold in about 6 1/2 years.
