  • No. It isn't for sale anywhere I've ever lived, although I wouldn't eat it and I don't know why, probably because I've never formed the association between horses and food.
  • As someone who owns horses I can freely say no. My reasons are very simple. I would find it very offence, cruel etc Spend time with a horse and you will see that they are even more intelligent than humans. They are amazing creatures and if something should happen to one of them, your heart will break. They become your familly. Would you eat someone you loved? A member of your familly?
  • It's a meat like sheep or cow, I eat meat, so why wouldn't I? I've never been in a situation where it's been on offer though.
  • NO, now one ever offered me, and it's not normal in country I live in, horses there aren't breed for meet, but for work and entertainment, they help people,
  • No, because I have never seen it sold. I might try it though, if I did ever see it.
  • Not sure why you have been down rated. + points given to compensate. I have not eaten it because I have never seen it in a shop or on a menu. I would certainly try it though. Have you eaten it - what is it similar to?
  • I would if it were available commercially. I think there are two reasons it isn't. One, is that people in this country tend to view horses as pets. Two, is that it is more difficult and more costly to raise horses than it is to raise cows, pigs, etc. I have known people who have come on hard times and butchered their horse to feed their kids. Dogs too. Meat is meat when your kids are hungry.
  • No. Reason horse meat belongs in dog food.
  • I have done-not much different to beef.
  • I'll eat anything I need to survive; even you... :-)
  • No. I'm a vegetarian.
  • no. would I? yes. I have never seen it sold here.
  • It is possible, We live where meat products are prosessed and packaged and sold to us under several different names. We assume the name is what is in the package. The real question here is; How can you be certain what kind of meat is in your processed sasuage?
  • I have little choice. I know the kibble says "Chicken and Rice" or "Beef and Liver" but you know that no-one human being bothers to taste-test this stuff before it hits the semi-truck. "Horse Meat and Floor Sweepings" is more like it. Ugh.
  • Neigh...
  • I don't now and wouldn't in the USA because I used to raise horses and I know what it says on the wormers and other medicine containers. It clearly says not to use on any animal that may get used for food purposes. LOL!! But anyway, I was born in Belgium in the 50s and it was considered the best safest meat to feed children. So I ate a lot of it. I guess it tasted alright. I don't have a problem with it. I don't anthropomorphize animals so that I can't eat certain ones just because they are pets. People make pets or use all sorts of animals all around the world. Your pet guinea pig is livestock in Peru. A pet pony here is meat on the hoof in Europe.
  • No, Im a vegetarian. Even if I wasn't one I'd feel weird cause I like horses.
  • Absolutely. It's sold regularly in Belgium and the grocery store just around the corner from me has it everyday and several days it's sold out before I get there. There is nothing like a horse steak and some fresh fries. Being from the states, it was shocking to me the first time I heard of people eating horse meat. I assumed it would be tough and taste too wild. But it's not! It's very tender, healthy, and here I can buy a huge steak for around 2.50 euros.
  • Nope--an occasional cow is as far as I'll go.
  • No..And I never plan to taste it..I only eat chicken,beef and pork..^_^
  • I don't eat horse meat, and I would not eat it because horses are for riding not for eating their meat. It's like snake, I would not knowingly want to eat snake, it just does not appeal to me. Now if I don't know what I am eating I probably would eat any kind of meat. But if someone tells me what it is and it's not beef, chicken, ham, turkey or some other meat that I am used to eating I probably could not eat it.
  • if the horse meat is cooked, i will.
  • You know, it's not uncommon at all in France.
  • well, I wouldn't go out and kill a horse myself. but if the animal is already dead, and on my plate. I'd be thinking I'd rather be riding it, than eating it, but that there isn't anything to do about i, other than to eat it, otherwise it's death was less meaningful.
  • Yes. I have and it was yummy.
  • No, I couldn't
