  • I think it would be cruel to say it to the child. But if that is how that person feels then "ok". But I would look into why that person feels that way.
  • I think if someone could say and mean this then they dont deserve to have the child! Give the child up for adoption so he/she might actually get a real childhood. While it is almost as important to give your pet as much love as possible, the child has to come first in EVERYTHING and anyone not willing to put their child first is not worthy of being a parent.
  • Frank, is this true or just a random question? The child is a part of you, you should love them more than some cat or dog.
  • YES! DEFINATELY YES IT IS!
  • It's both, it's also stupid and probably inaccurate.
  • I think it is more a sign of twisted priorities. I would feel really sorry for your child, and be concerned about their welfare.
  • I just don't see how you could love an animal more than you could your own child. I would have to say that not only is it cold and cruel, but the person would need psychological help, and most likely, the child would too, because something like that would HAVE to have a horrid affect on a child, visible or not.
  • I think it depends on the child. If the child is vulgar, spoiled and ungrateful, it could be well within the parent's right to assess their animal as being more deserving of love. I have seen some children behave so unbelievably cruel to their parents lately and I would rather hear the truth that is in a person's heart than some bogus lip service about loving a child who they have a strained relationship with. My mother has a 2 year old cat and a 16 year old cat. Honestly, they bring her more happiness than my 37 year old brother who lives in the house and treats my mother like his personal slave.
  • I knew someone like that well they would never say "more than" but I am pretty sure if the house were to catch fire she would grab the dogs thinking (the kids know what to do the dogs dont).
  • No, not necessarily. Though I believe it would be more accurate to say I like them more. See, pets don't lie to you or deliberately disobey you. Children do both. While I believe love is love, those who do not infuriate you will be more likely to receive more affection.
  • I think maybe you need to differentiate between love and like. Maybe your pets don't drive you nuts as much as your kids do so you like them more, but I sincerely hope you don't LOVE them more.
