You need a CDL licence with Bus endorcement. Air Brake endorcement and have to go to the bus garage and take a road test as well as a medical exam.

In addition to the above you will likely have to be fingerprinted. There are schools that teach bus driving. They will train you for your written test, teach you how to handle the vehicle and take you for your road test. Many companies will train you, usually in exchange for a specified period of employment (e.g., one year).

I sometimes saw them driving through the city with a bus without passagiers. On the front was displayed "beginner" instead of a destination.
