Mr Bean.

Stonewall Jackson -- one who had excellent skill at coming up with unusual strategies and fighting off a larger force.
From ancient times: maybe King David and his army commander Joab, assuming that God is fighting for them.
James T. Kirk because he's the only one to have won in the Kobiasi Maru test! Wait, what about Black Jack Pershing the only 6 star general! Or George Washington, can he do it again?
Superman.
general Schwarzkopf
Genghis khan,Henry the fifth,Horatio nelson, the duke of Wellington,Stalin,Hitler,Churchill,Rommel,Montgomery,Saladin or Richard the lion heart.
chingis khan, there is no general in history who has ever come close to him.
historically-feild marshall rommel, general washington, general sherman, general patton, general mac aurther
present day- general franks, general cody, general powell
Patton
MacArthur
Michael Savage if I have to pick someone from present day. He could rally the troops for maximum patriotism.
George Washington if it could be anybody at any time.
Hmm...
If I had to stand and fight... Ghengis Khan, I guess... I'm sure he could think of something defensive...
Or perhaps Caesar...
However, I think I'd prefer to let my army melt away and disperse and let the opponent invade my country...
I'd then put Ho Chi Minh in charge and watch the guerillia warfare. ^^
Nathan Bedford Forrest on land and John Paul Jones on the sea.
Sun Tzu.
alaxender the great-he led outnumbered forces against the best armies of their day to victory and conquered the known world.
Samuail Jackson
owain glyndwr
lord nelson
300 spartans.
eric von manstien, or the general in charge of russian forces at stalingrad, or sir winston chirchill, he did a good job during the battle of britain.
This guy:
"Gen. Anthony Clement McAuliffe is best remembered for uttering a single word -- no mean feat, considering that even the shortest Bible verse has two. Commanding the U.S. Army’s beleaguered and surrounded 101st Airborne Division during World War II’s Battle of the Bulge, McAuliffe received a German surrender ultimatum. "Nuts!" he replied, and became a lasting symbol of American courage and determination under fire."

Robert E. Lee or Alexander.
George S Patton
I forget the name but he was one of Justinian's generals of the Byzantine Empire. He continuosly fought with less than his opponents and always came out on top.
Napoleon would be my choice. I would want the commander with greatest expertise in fighting on the defensive. The acknowledged greatest generals in world history haven't been noted for their prowess on the defensive. Stonewall Jackson is/was not in the same league as Napoleon, Ghengis Khan, Alexander the Great, and others. Jackson was known for his sometimes brilliant offensive tactics. They are few ,if any generals famous for fighting well on the defensive. If I had to pick one from the Civil War, it would be the Rock of Chickamauga George Thomas, who saved the Federal at that battle by his brilliant defensive tactics after the Federal battle was breached. His defense was as solid as a ROCK.
I wouldn't call army at all. I would just engage Chuck Norris :) kidding. Maybe Alexander The Great.
In our modern age (Since 1900) I would use LTC. Richard Winter (Band of Brothers - True Story) His troops had dug in the snow forest of Germany, without proper clothing, munitions nor food. Yet his platoon fought for each other or died trying.
When going into combat you want soldier's next to you who will give their lives if need be, those that give you their best...and then some, trusting in each other and their leadership are key components when you're dug in on enemy territory. LTC Winters was also a brilliant strategist to boot.
Captain Mainwaring.
Sun Tzu
Ho Chi Minh
Robert E. Lee.
Bill Maher
Seriously....any leader that can whip the troops into a frenzy to the point that they no longer care if they live or die as long as they do their duty.
As long as the leader is tactically sound.
For instance Joan of Arc.....although she was not tactically sound.
Sometimes those two things are diametrically opposed to one another with great leaders in desperate situations.
Do you think India and the US could be close allies in future?

You're reading You have one Army Division left that stands between you holding off the enemy or losing your country to invaders. Who would you put in charge of that Army?
