  • It probably depends on what you'd like to teach and what age range/grade. I've known of people who got a PhD and went on to teach highschool in Durham, but I've also known of electives teachers who had experience in what they were teaching. It also depends on what county you plan on teaching in. Check with schools in the areas to see what their requirements are. It may be easier to get a job as a teacher's aid first, but I can't say for certain that you'd be able to move up from there with experience. Again, you should check with the particular schools/school districts to see requirements.
