I'd say it's okay if she puts in some money - your whole future is a partnership, with both contributing. I don't think that this implies that your savings are "not good enough"; you've worked your backside off - you couldn't have worked any more hours, but if you could have earned more per hour you WOULD have, and then the amount of total money would be the same as with her contribution. The idea of representing future finances is a strange one, though - the ring should represent your FUTURE, not your finances. P.S. If you decide to pool your money for the ring, go for clarity, color, and brilliance - rather than just size. There are some big and not-so-good diamonds on offer.
