Two of my three will, but if you want to see them all run you have to shake a bag of cat treats.
-
Yes he used to. when he was alive :(
-
only if they are hungry otherwise it's like don't bother us if you don't have food for us lol
-
He will if hes hungry otherwise he thinks I'm plotting against him and will not come.
-
I have 2 cats, they both stare at me when I say their names. The younger one will follow me sometimes after I say his name.
-
Yes, one of them, much more so than to 'kitty, kitty, kitty'. He seems to know when we talk about him. And we talk about him A LOT! THe other comes only in the morning for food.
-
Nope. =(
-
a few of them do, some don't (we have 5). depends on if they are hungry or begging for attention.
-
You have a cat that listens to you !!!!!????
-
my cat can hardly stand to be in the opposite room from me so its usually not a challenge to get her to come to me
-
Yup they both know their names. Kitty & Sadie.
-
Hell, no. She hates me.
-
usually, but they run to me if I call them and shake the treat bag.
-
No, but it breathes heavy and purrs alot;)
-
Yes, both of them know their names and come when called.
-
When he feels like it, or hears the food rattle or can opener.
-
Not really. If they are in the room and call their name, they will look at us, but generally won't come to us. I did figure out a way to get them to come to me. I klink a fork against the food bowls and they all come running!
-
Usually he does, yes.
-
yes he does,it took some work but he comes when i call he, expecially when it's time to go to bed.
-
Mine does, he's 3 1/2 months old and he's just like a real person. He waits for me on the couch when I go out and walks around the house folowing me everywhere. I LOVE him. He hates my husband, I think he's jelouse. When we are in bed hanging out he sits on the floor by my side and if I call him up, he looks to see if my husband is there, if he is, he scrams, but if he isn't he lays on his side..lol.. It is SO funny!!!
-
Yeah! I have her trained to sit! And come to me!
-
One does, the other typically doesn't. She's a bit stand-offish though.
-
NO WAY! Domnisoara Lucru just ignores her name and goes about her business. Sometimes she'll just stare at me for a little while, but rarely comes when called.
-
Yes always and my neighbors are stunned by that
-
No, she comes when my husband calls her. He has a way with the pussy. :) Seriously, when he goes out of town she disappears until he comes home.
-
I dont have a cat but if I did it would come to eat my pet hampster.
-
Yep all three of my boys do.
-
Yes, when its food time!!
-
Sometimes
-
My cat BooBoo always runs to anyone that calls his name, he goes to the door when someone knocks he actually thinks and acts like a dog more then a cat, he does alot of pet tricks.
-
she would only come if i have food in my hand.
-
My kitties usually come when I call their name. It doesn't work as well when my husband tries. Maybe its because I give them treats.
-
he actually does, he is so needy for attention, its hilarious, wejust say here kitty kitty kitty, he really doesnt have a name, but im trying to think of one !
-
They come when I call them, they come when I don't call them, they come when they see me going to the cupboard to get their canned food or when I am getting something for myself to eat, they come when I sit down at the computer or when I get ready for bed.
-
If I'm calling their name while also pouring their food, or getting something from the kitchen for myself, then, by all means, they come. Otherwise, no. They definitely all have selective hearing.
-
They mostly come to you when they need something. Every time in the morning my cat comes to me and purrs next to my legs. Cats need to be trained to learn their names and come to you.
-
Yes she does her name is Kitty so I can say kitty kitty kitty she comes running or when I am laying down and pat my chest she comes right up and lays down. If she snuck out the house I get the cat bowl and spoon and call her and tap the spoon to the bowl she gets wet food in she come running out of no where . Which If she does get out not often she hates it too because I give her a bath.No flea policy here.NO vacancies....lol
-
Oh no.............I answered before....bad me.....
-
No, she only does that with the stray Tom in our back yard.
-
Mini was convinced he was a dog. Would come when you called, waited at the door to greet you when you came home, begged for food sitting on his haunches... Crazy son of a gun...golly, how I miss him!
-
Only if she feels like it;)
-
Yeah, right yo...
-
Tux almost always comes when we call him. He's also good at coming in on curfew.
-
Not if he's being bad like jumping on my wifes cat or clawing things or climbing on things. Other wise he comes if I call him.
-
Yup, and when I whistle, but then again she thinks she's a dog...
-
Dogs come when you call them. Cats take a message and get back to you!! (It's on a fridge magnet I have.) But I have had a cat that would come when you called him. I swear he thought like a dog.
-
Most of the time. We even play a game together where he fetches. He acts more like a dog.
-
my cat always does no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
My cat won't come if I call her name, but she will come if I say bal-bo.
-
no my cat does not come when I call her
-
I have two black cats (it's a coincidence, really!) and I like to go out on the backporch, raise my arms, and yell, "WarKittens?!?" They both come running... Some days, I crack myself up.
-
Both of my kitties are gone now, but back in the day they both came when called. They didn't come collectively when I used a tone of voice; they came to their individual names [which were Gilda and Daisy Mae]
-
I don't have a cat right now...but I have had several and ALL of them came when they were called.....some would amble in their own time, but I have had a couple who would drop everything and gallop to where I was in response. Cats are SO cool.
-
Yes, listens VERY well for a cat..
-
Yes, she knows her name and will turn and look at me and come when called.
-
One does, the other(the grey one on your left)will if he's not too busy.
-
sometimes, most of the time though he can't be bothered.
-
if she's in the mood and feels like it.
-
If he feels like it he will.
-
my dog does... but only 90% of the time... hmmmphhfff
-
I don't want to yell when they're outside so I whistle. They know the sound of it and usually come home. Usually.
-
If by calling you mean shaking a food container...
-
I HAVE THREE CATS THEY ALL RECOGNIZE THERE NAMES AND EACH OTHERS NAMES WHEN I CALL ONE HE WILL COME BUT THEY OTHERS TURN TO LOOK AT HIM LIKE THEY KNOW I JUST CALLED HIM MY CATS PLAY ROLL OVER,CATCH,UNBELIEVABLY THEY DO EVERYTHING A DOG WOULD DOI MADE IT A POINT TO TREAT THEM LIKE FAMILY AND TALK TO THEM LIKE I WOULD A HUMAN AND THEY RESPOND VERY WELL THEY MAKE FOR GREAT COMPANIONS THEY ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH BUT TO ANSWER THE ? THEY DO COME WHEN I CALL THEM SORRY I GET CARRIED AWAY WHEN IT COMES TO MY CATS THERE LIKE MY CHILDREN
-
Cats are notorious for not giving a s**t.
-
They come running to me
-
She'll come up to me when I call her but when I try and pick her up she'll make a runner for it and it will end up being a fun chase around my apartment block.
-
no
-
Mine certainly seems to.
-
No. Cats don't respond to anything.
-
Mine do if I also open a cat food can at the same time ; )
-
Mine both do...usually.
-
Nope, not really.
-
Nope. You could call til the cows come home, and they won't show up. Cats are not subservient to humans in the same way that dogs are.
-
I think my cat responds to his name... ...but chooses not to.
-
Mine would. They responded quicker to three quick whistles. That usually meant it was dinner time.
-
All three of mine do. They also appear to understand certain other words. I've always trained any cat I've had to respond to its name. You have to start when they're kittens and you have to stick with the training. I think that the idea that cats cannot be trained in certain ways is not entirely true. But then again, I'm known among my friends as "the cat whisperer." ;)
-
Ya know, now that I think about when I call him by name he just looks up at me like I'm stupid, but if i say "here kitty kitty" he'll tear ass through the house to get to me.
-
Oh yes, they all know their names and do not move unless I address them personally.
-
My cat does, her name is Rasputin and she'll meow when I say her name.
-
Dogs and cats recognize and respond to sounds but not to specific words. With dogs words used in commands like sit, stay and other are only recoginized as sounds. This is why the command words must always be given consistanly. Failure to give a consistant sound will cause the dog not to recognize it and not perform as commanded. In the 80's I got a bulldog puppy that was deaf at birth. Since my wife and I knew she would never respond to a name we just referred to her as 'Baby Girl'. I quickly learned that the visual signals and body language worked better than verbal commands. Baby Girl soon learned sign language for all the basic behavioral commands. Most importantly was body language in communicating with her. To this day I use only sign language and body language to communicate with my dogs (I have 2). As for cats, my wife took in a homeless kitten a little over a year ago. The same techniques of sign language and body language works well with her cat. Many of our friends are amazed at how my wife was able to train the cat to obey her commands. So, using a name for dogs and cats is only useful in making humans feel their pet is equalivent to a human child. This is a serious mistake. Dogs and Cats are only dogs and cats and must be treated and communicated with as dogs and cats. It is amazing at how much more enjoyable a pet can be when they are treated and communicated with accordingly.
-
i have 2 cats and they do answer to their names. i have had other cats too and they did answer to their names too so yes cats do answer to their names like dos do
-
Yes, especially if she is outside with me and its time to go in. She is such a good girl.
-
Mine most certainly do. And when I call them, they come running and meow as if to say, "I'm here... Now what?"
-
Cats can, but would rather not. As the famous saying goes, "The difference between cats and dogs is that dogs come when they are called: Cats take a message and get back to you later."
-
Yes, both mine do & they've learned 2 ignore me when they're being lazy.
-
Yes, she comes probably thinking there is a chance of getting a treat.
-
One of my boys (Tony) and our girl (Isis) both come to their names.
-
Yes but only if she feels like it!
-
Sure does. She also respond to the command to "Pick a flavor." for dinner time. And she also responds to the command "Monsters!" for playtime.
-
Only if I call him when he wants to come.
