When I close a bag of bread, I spin the bag to twist the end closed, hook the twist tie on, then spin the bag again while holding the tie stationary to twist it closed. Is this normal? How are you supposed to close a bread bag?

Just use the twist-tie. Anything else is excessive.

We use small clamps. We just roll the bag down to the bread level, thereby getting rid of excess air, put the clamp on and voila! It's so much faster and you don't have to bother with those tie thingies! :)

I twist it to make it small enough to clamp on the tie (or hook) and then put on that hook/tie, then done.
