Generally 3 types of emergency lights. First is the old rotating lights (used to be called bubble gum machines, cuz thats what they looked like.) A bulb spun around inside a colored globe (red, blue, green, yellow), and with some help from mirrors, flashed. Next was strobe lights. Just like the old disco days, very bright, rapidly flashing. Then it was learned that strobes can trigger seizures in certain people. Latest technology is LED lights. These are made up of many tiny, BRIGHT lights. LED's (think it stands for lighted electrical display, but not sure on that one...)usually are the brightest, hence, being the safest for emergency personnel.
