They may tolerate it in their inner circles .but to me it is the a bad habit that should be dropped .the kids have heard it so much they try to make it a positive thing.but it is not.the roots will alway be anchored in hatred. an the pain is there when someone outside the group uses the word.it becomes a weapon again.

I don't think calling gay people 'fags' and 'queers' is good...I don't really hear them call eachother that much. But, sadly, I do hear black people call eachother "niggas" which I've never understood because when other people say it, they get quite defencive. But to be honest, they shouldn't be that way...What happened to equality? If they can call white people "crackers", hispanics "spicks", and asians "slant-eyes"... then I believe that others should be allowed to call them the same thing they call themselves and eachother.

Just because somebody else does something, does that mean you you have to? I always wonder why people seem to have a hard-on for the "n" word, I would never want too add it into my vocabulary. Same with the "f" word, this is not the 80's.... Folks can say what ever they want, just so long as they able to deal with whatever situations come up from saying hateful rhetoric... I enjoy friends of all backgrounds, so this is not an option for me...

yeeeash I'll never understand humankind. If we want these words to be gone and they are so bad then EVERYONE has to stop using them. As long as people deem it ok for some people to say something and others cant (which is totally ludicrous) these words will survive. I'll never understand why people call each other something but then get upset when someone else says the word..rappers sell a lot of albums to whites full of the word but then the kids aren't supposed to sing the lyrics? I say be done with all of these words for good across the board or just get over it..they are just words.

No. Ok, for one, not all black people call each other "niggas." I'm black, and i hate that word. I totally disagree with us black people using it on our selves, it's stupid i think. It's the same dam term that racist people that enslaved us 100's of years ago used to refer to us not even good enough to be referred to as something humane, and we still want to use it, i don't know why..... If other people want to call each other niggas than that's fine, but, personally i think it's just stupid and unthoughtful.

I call my friends son, homie, cracker, blood, cunt, head, sausage, slut, goober, homo, cock sucker, nigga, faggot, shit head, pussy and toilet face. You can say whatever you want to whoever you want, but most importantly is knowing if their reaction will be acceptable to you before you say anything to them.

There are many offensive racist terms for various ethnicities but the n-word ranks above them all. It should be banned from all polite speech. The notion that a word can only belong to one group of people is in itself racist. If a word is out-of-bounds it should be out-of-bounds for all.

Yes they can, and they do use it. Go and check YOUTUBE and you'll see white folks using those words. Many whites use it when they're among themselves and are having conversations about black people or gay people. But I must ask you, what's your preocupation with what some blacks choose to call one another? What is it to you? What does it have to do with you? I am a black man and I call my friends, family, and others by their names, and those whose name I don't know I call them Sr. Mrs. Miss, Lady. I don't call white men "honkey" or "cracker" or "whitey". And if I hear white people calling each other by such a terms, first; that would be nothing of my personal concern, second; I don't believe that I should go around requesting some sort of a "right" or special concession to join others in name calling. If you see me walking down the street and for whatever reason you wish to talk to me, are you going to refer to me as "nigga" or "nigger"? I certainly hope not!

Their non-insulting use is only possible if the context is very clear. 2) According to that logic, maybe white people could call each other crackers? "cracker 4028 up, 998 down Noun. Slang word used to refer to those of European ancestry.
