  • Buy a new heater core and toss the old one. 95% of the cost is in labor (very labor intensive - over 8 book hours I'll bet). Better to have it changed once than take a chance on having to do it twice. the cost will vary wildly depending upon the hourly rate you get charged. It will seem way more expensive than you would think. (the cost will be comparable to something like replacing an engine or transmission)
  • you dont clean/repair heater cores you replace them they are no serviceable to replace them its around 50 to 100 bucks labor, a couple hours labor on most vehicles, more on some good luck
