I wouldn't say he's a jackass, just an idiot looking for a rise. Who cares?
-
Yes....
-
Your uncle is lost. Pray for him.
-
Well, it was just a joke. A bad one, but just a joke all the same. People should lighten up already, this isn't the 16th century.
-
I think if someone was annoyed by something that trivial, they're overreacting. Had the room been filled with Atheists and someone had said 777 there wouldn't be any difference. If he knew it was going to make people mad then I just think he was being a jerk. It was in poor taste.
-
Not really. I don't see how that would really piss people off, either, unless it was a xain concert.
-
I think someone who is offended by the mere mention of a number is kind of a jackass, don't you?
-
I guess it really depends on the setting. It probably wouldn't be appropriate at a Christian concert or a church function. It's kind of like going to a rap concert as white man and they ask what your favorite word is and you yell the N word. Just a bad idea. However, the people that got offended need to really stop living in a bubble. I would've just laughed at him and shrugged it off like, what an idiot, lol. As you said in one of your comments, everyone has their own beliefs and we should respect them. That means his beliefs as well. So the people that were offended should take heed to that statement as well.
-
I would say that it was sort of a dumb thing to do.
-
he just sounds like one of those who gets off trying to stir things up. not everyone is going to share his sense of humor. I'm not an atheist, and wouldn't have been offended, but I know people who would be.
-
I think it'd be funny as hell if it were a christian rock band!!
-
eh just a joke.
-
Some people are just too easily offended these days.
-
Kind of funny, really. That people can get so offended by three little numbers. This kind of reaction is exploited a lot in music. "I've seen the ways of God, I'll take the Devil any day, Hail Satan!"
-
I'd do it. It's a pretty supid thing to be offended by. But it's funny.
-
Way to funny, to bad you're offended by 3 little numbers. Grow up.
-
If it was a redneck bar, he's lucky he didn't get mobbed. You know how those christian fanatics stick together. If it was a rock band, maybe they had a song to go with the numbers. People getting pissed because of the number are the jackasses. Sometimes beer makes you forget your surroundings. I doubt many people were pissed because you are well enough to type.
-
Was this an Iron Maiden concert by any chance?
-
It was hilarious. +5
-
Nope.
-
Meh. A silly joke - and if people got pissed off it just shows how personally some folk take their numbers, which is kinda silly in itself.
-
A jackass, probably not, but it depends on the venue. If he was at a club or a bar, no worries, people should suck it up. If he was at a wedding, perhaps it was inappropriate.
-
Nope. He's perfectly entitled to any favorite number he wants.
-
It depends on the context. He was just making a joke, and I don't think that's wrong. If this was, say, a wake, wedding reception, baptism etc etc, then I think it was a little rude, however if this was a casual family/friends gathering, I don't think it was rude.
-
Don't get in a lather over it, but trying to get a rise out of people (picking a fight) like that does make him a silly jackass.
