  • No. In fact, there are Germans in closer line for the throne than you. (Heck, there are Germans in closer line for the throne than people whose families have inhabited Britain for the last 200 generations.) Family pedigree -- and the line of succession -- goes by connection to noble houses, not by simple nationality. (Why would I need to include the names of all the German successors to the House of Windsor? That's not the question. That's not even part of the question. The question was whether British ancestry qualifies one to be in line to the throne.)
  • Not by itself, no, but maybe. If you trace the current monarch's descent back to William of Normandy (William the Conqueror), because that is the line from which the current royal family derives its authority to rule, and then forward again, you will find that there are currently about 400,000 living descendants of old Will. Depending on how legitimate you consider any of the successions/conquests after William, this means that there could be 400,000 people in line for the throne. Just joking, but you can see how many people could have a legitimate claim, depending on how you view the legitimacy of each succession; some were by heredity, but some were by conquest over rivals within the same family.. The only way to find out is to have a thorough search of your geneology done. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
  • Actually, itâ??s even less likely than the other posts. According to the Act of Succession (Various parts of it) in order to be in line for the Throne, you must meet the following criteria; You can not be Roman Catholic You can not be married to a Roman Catholic You must be in communion with The Church of England You must be a descendant of the Electress Sophia These are just *SOME* of the â??qualificationsâ?? you need. While it isnâ??t impossible that you are in line, itâ??s EXTREMELY unlikely. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh himself is actually 496th in line for the Throne in his own right, so that gives you some idea of just how far down the line you might be!
