  • I haven't seen the show, and I have no interest in much of anything on tv, but it might be that the show lets people's evil little devils out for a while, and they can laugh at childish things they have to be mature and respectable about in their daily lives.
  • It isn't making fun of unattractive people. It is making fun of attractive people. Or, at least of the idea that attractive equals intelligent, kind, sensible, etc. I don't watch it because I don't like making fun, or putting down any group to elevate another. Even in a funny format.
  • I watch the show. It doesn't make fun of unattractive people. It points out that the most attractive feature anyone can have is character. The uglier it is, the worse and more shallow.
  • I dont see it either Frank! Its not that funny, I don't think.
  • It's one of the best shows on TV, you should watch it. In no way is it making fun of unattractive people, it's exactly the opposite. The show's premise is about a millionaire magazine publisher who gives his handsome playboy son one of his magazines to run- the fashion magazine MODE. The son has had one beautiful woman assistant after another, and they have simply been his sex toys. Then along comes Betty- she is bright and funny, and NOT a fashion model type. The father hires her for his son to ensure he won't sleep with her. As a result, she actually teaches him how to be a better editor, and a better person, and establishes herself as the backbone of the magazine. Plus, lot's of "telenova" style soap opera shenagans among the characters. Plus, there is a lot of GLBT content, including the first instance of a gay pre-teen as a series regular, and the first instance of a transgendered person as a series regular, that I know of on network television.
  • I can appreciate that it has a message, but I don't like the title. Even with glasses, and braces and her unfashionable clothes, she doesn't look ugly to me.
  • It's just a modern take on the Ugly Duckling. However, its title put me off watching it.
