I'm not sure he'd be so big a political entity if not for his brother having been President, so I'm gonna say no. He was no JFK.

I don't think so. He was a socialist so he would have been popular with some classes.

Absolutely. After the death of his brother he became a man of the common people, and he would have ended our involvement in Vietnam.
