It would be possible with some vehicles. Many models are offered for sale with either a manual or an automatic transmission. There are few structural differences between the models, because of the added cost of supporting two different manufacturing lines, but there are a number of minor differences among modern cars that could be problematic. It is not a simple case of swapping transmission hardware.

There are several electronic systems, such as ignition interlocks, installed in cars that are different for manual and automatic transmissions. There may also be mechanical variations between the models, such as different gear ratios in the differential.

There are some vehicles offered for sale (in North America, where automatics account for some 80% of sales, the opposite of Europe) with the manual transmission standard and the automatic optional that are, quite literally, never sold with a manual. I recall the father of a friend trying to purchase a new car with a manual transmission. The car had to be special ordered from the factory, as there were none available through the dealer network with manual transmissions installed.

While it may be possible, it would be very expensive to do so, unless you were a mechanic with the experience and the time to do the work yourself. It would be cheaper to sell the existing car and purchase the same model with a manual. The conversion cost would then amount to the difference between the selling and buying prices of two otherwise identical vehicles.

Yes, it is possible to convert any vehicle with an automatic transmission to one with a manual transmission. The main issues is the cost of the converstion. If it's an older car, you can put in a non factory transmission. My suggestion would be to talk to a local machinic. Factors to think about are the cost and age of the car you are planning to convert, what benifits would be gained by converting to manual and in some countries a drivers licence only allows drivers to drive automatics.

Yes, it's possible, in some cases. Newer vehicles is nearly impossible to do this to, without much pain, time, and money. In older vehicles, yes definitly. There are many cases in which off-road vehicles are converted fron an automatic to a stick, reasons being a stick is more reliable and doesn't run as hot as an automatic does.

Does anyone know of a site that may have a parts list. Even better would be to have a price attached to each item on the list.

Anyone know of a place that may even sell a conversion kit??

Thanks for any advice or info

Hey, yes it is POSSIBLE! im from australia, i have a nissan skyline R33 GTST automatic, i wanted to change it to manual, so i called up the mechanics, and then said all they needed to do was go to the wreckers, find my exact car but a manual model and take all the parts out of their and just transfer them to mine. now im paying 1000 for the parts and 600 for the LABOUR. so yes anything is impossible.
