THe allowance of the barbarians integrating into their society. It is very similar to the illegal immigration issue in the US, eventually it will lead to our demise if it continues indefinitely without any control. The Roman society became too blended of differing cultures to the point that it could not sustain any continuity any longer. Once COnstantinople fell, it was all over, and some claim it was when Odoacer unseated Romulus Augustulus in 476 A.D. deposing the last Western Emperor. Even at that point, the barbarians diluted the population enough to weaken the empire from its traditional form.

The Romans collapsed because of themselves and their lifestyle.Corruption in the political system and arrogance.They had been the center of the world for centuries and the next stage of world development was about to happen somewhere else and the Roman empire collapsed.
