How do you prepare a slide to see bacteria with a 600x magnification

    That's a high magnification for a light microscope. The slide must have a thin cover slip, and usually an oil-immersion lens is used by placing a drop of special optical oil between the lens and cover slip.

    First you would stain the bacteria with, for example, a Gram stain, by exposing the specimen to a sequence of various dyes and solvents prior to placing the cover slip.
