What's the most ridiculous thing you've ever been fired for? I was once fired for breaking my toe when I tripped on the stairs!

I cant get fired even if I wanted to....sometimes i wish you could give a 2 week notice in the military...;)

Calling one of our best customers and asking for a payment earlier than usual so I could deposit the check and cover payroll that week..the customer was fine with it..my boss blew his stack. He fired me...the next day he said he was sorry and said he didn't really mean it..but it was too late. I gave him two weeks of my best work and left and never looked back. :)

To be fired for that is illegal. If I was you when it happened, I would have taken it to the law.

- I was 18, so it was over 20 years ago, and I didn't have a contract, so it was a "fire at will situation." I had been there a week and during that week I had got stuck in the elevator three times and then I tripped up the stairs and broke my toe. When I got back from the hospital they fired me!

- So there was probably more to it. However, even without a contract, at least in the US, there are specific laws stating (even without a contract) how you cannot be fired for things as minor as that. =/

- I think they thought I was a liability! They told me that because I broke my toe I was unable to carry out my duties!
