Hello Glenn, how are you? I will give you several, and by comparing the different translations and manuscripts, you can decide what is translated correctly based on evidence you can see with your own eyes.
Some online Bibles and other resources that I have found are:
http://bible.cc/psalms/83-18.htm /. Several translation, only one verse at a time.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1John5:7-8;&version=31;77;50;51;49; /. 5 versions with up to 5 groups of verses
    http://wesley.nnu.edu/biblical_studies/tyndale/ /. William Tyndales Bible
http://www.watchtower.org/e/bh/article_00.htm Many articles with links to scriptures.
    http://scripture4all.org/OnlineInterlinear/NTpdf/joh1.pdf Online interlinear.
http://www.thebiblereference.com/ /. King James and American Standard with Strongs references
    http://www2.mf.no/bibelprog/vines /. Vines concordance
http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm Many versions, concordance's, manuscripts (including the "Textus Receptus" and the "Alexandrian".
http://www.eliyah.com/lxx.html Fragments of the Greek Septuagint
http://www.codexsinaiticus.org/en/manuscript.aspx Query&book=36&chapter= 1&lid=en&side=r&ve rse=18&zoomSlider=0#36-1-1 8-5 Sinaitic manuscript, I believe that it is the oldest complete manuscript.
Here are some differences that I have noticed. http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/7025764

The following have something to do with the Vatican MS 1209 from the 4th century, but as of right now, I don't see an English parallel. [http://www.csntm.org/Manuscript/View/GA_03

A friend of mine recently showed me this site:

    www.biblegateway.com

The site allows you to enter the verses you want to view (similar to how you would reference them - e.g. "John 3:16-18") then gives you a drop-down box where you can select the version (including other languages). You can also select your particular default version for subsequent visits to the site.

No matter what translation you use - it is still going to say NO adultery and don't get drunk - so you might as well find something else to do this weekend.

  • It depends wether you want to read a Christian translation or an altered non-Christian translation.

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=JOHN%2B3:16

    http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Jhn&c=3

    http://scripturetext.com/john/3-16.htm

    http://net.bible.org/verse.php?book=Joh&chapter=3&verse=16

    These are some I like.

    Although...

Any bibles given to you from anyone in the next link... should be avoided and considered skeptical at best.

The groups (and more) in the above list may have and probably did alter text in the bible to coincide with the views of the cult leader and or members.

I always liked Biblegateway and blueletterBible as already mentioned. I would also suggest http://powerBible.com and http://esword.com

I personally use PowerBible for all my Bible searching on the computer, and like ESword it is free Bible software. The free version comes with multiple versions and is nearly identical to the full version, just with less commentaries and versions. It still comes with several versions though, lets you search for all words/any words/exact phrase, and lets you see the interlinear for words (original text) as well as the Strong's Greek or Hebrew definitions for them.

I've recommended PowerBible many times before and have been using it for years.

I've been using The Blue Letter Bible at http://blueletterbible.org/
It lets you search on KJV, and then jump to other translations. Also offers several commentaries and other resources.
