Water, if I'm going somewhere where I have the option. Across land though, train is a favorite. Although I've also had some really interesting bus trips cross country. Automobile is another favorite, it lets you stop and see the countryside and not just in passing. I don't like to fly, given any other option.

Plane:
1. Much faster
2. Lower injury and death rate per passenger mile.
3. Lower cost considering meals, gas, car expenses and
overnight.
We can travel in 2+ hours the same distance it takes for 2 hard days driving.

I am a road trip guy, and like to be the wheel man. Planes are fine for long trips that I don't have the time for or cannot get to by car.

I prefer to take a long car trip, and to NOT be the driver. It's the best of naps!

Depends on the distance to travel. For short distance i will prefer my bike, for medium distance train and for large distance planes.

I took a plane to NY and took the train back. It was so much easier taking the train, plus they have electric outlets to plug in and charge your phone and laptop, and a snack bar that sells wine and cheese. This is the good life!

I have done both numerous times and both long and short trips.
I factor in the time (convenience) and cost considerations 1st and then the reasons for the trip. If there are places along the way to stop and visit, then the car is practical. If it is just a matter of getting from point A to B, then flying is the way to go.

I've done both, and by train also. I prefer the car, so I can stop when I see something interesting. The train was okay, but I only got to stop at the stations along the way. The scenery was nice, and they showed movies in the observation car, so at least I wasn't bored, but the food selection wasn't that great and it was pretty expensive. Six dollars for a plate of spaghetti? No, thanks.

I have to make my choice based on cost, unfortunately. When the whole family goes anywhere, we have to take the car. I save money by preparing our meals ahead of time, or cooking on the road. We do "splurge" most of the time and stay in motels, but I also have a full compliment of camping gear.
When there are just one or two traveling, if it's business, we have to take the car to visit the shops, but pleasure, we fly to the folks house, and rent a car while there, because that gives us up to four extra days to visit, instead of driving.

I am a bad traveler..hahah...So I can appriciate that planes get you there faster, but I MUST get up and stretch my legs. I enjoy traveling by car becasue you CAN stop and get out and get some fresh air..
Boats I dont think I would enjoy that very much..I am not a strong swimmer..
