  • They broke up "In spite of their huge success for a period, bolstered by the movie and a television special, the major hits dried up after 1967's "You Got What It Takes". The DC5's efforts to embrace the prevailing trend of psychedelia were not successful. They disbanded in 1970, having placed a further three singles on the UK chart that year." • they seemed to fade away after about 1967/68 I think they finally broke up in the early 70's, I know you can get a 'greatest hits' CD ... not to sure who put it out ...you could go to Amazon.com and type in the dave clarke five..they may have a copy in stock or have some info on the CD
  • They split up due to their diminishing popularity and they where very rich and successful due to their pioneering of paying for, producing, paying for their studio time out of their own pockets, manufacturing etc of themselves and their records without the middle men and hangers on and leaving them in complete control of themselves....Mike went on to pursue a solo career at his own pace....Dave went on to pursue his vison in production which led to him not only funding the musical TIME but writing it, producing it and as far as I know he is still very heavily involved in production work in the musical industry.....the others I believe retired very wealthy due to the shrewness of the bands own investment but they have played with other musicians at their choice and not out of need...sadly publishers etc of the so called big groups artists today say bands are phenomenal if they exceed 40 million records sales....THE DAVE CLARK FIVE exceeded 100 million record sales and wrote 99% of their own stuff and althogh looked down on by the musicians and musical press as not being too talented musically which I would agree with but as a unit they where a very very strong and tight playing band who did really good music for their time and their press was always good and value for money...Mickynoname
