Monotheism depicts sexual conduct as disgusting and only done so if necessary. Judaism is the first religion that is monotheistic, before Judaism was Wicca (pantheistic) & Ancient Egyptian, Roman & Greek religious practises (polytheistic) for example. Wiccans worshipped the natural form and the act of sex because it is the only way in which the grandest of all acts can be done: Creating life! As we all know, the Romans and Greeks had no shame in the natural form of the body nor the act of sex, they had no pornography (in fact they had paintngs on the walls in their homes depicting such things). When monotheism came along it tried to oust these other faiths be demonizing what they believed and held sacred (such as sexual conduct). So for 4,000 years people have been led to think that sexual conduct is a bad thing, if you're told a lie for long enough you'll start to believe it! So today we still have the underlying roots of our psyche/society telling us to think badly of sexual conduct. That is why so many people get disgusted by it, it's still inate unfortunately.

If you refer to it as masterbation, no problem. If you use crass language, then you have pushed it. It's called tact, read up on it.
