Scary things happening there... What ever happened to democracy?

It seems he has not intention of giving up power. Many who oppose him die in one way or another in short order. He has facilitated state control over all forms of media and industry. This sounds very familiar and very scary. Russia had made tons of progress. Putin is a huge setback. His dealings with N. Korea and Iran indicate he is willingly siding with the "Axis of Evil". I have been watching and reading about him and his actions and it worries me. Gary Kasparov is likely to turn up dead soon if he keeps up his dissent. More power to him, I hope he survives and the Russian people wake up to what is happening.
