  • You cannot be overqualified for *everything*. Maybe you are aiming too low; how about aiming at the jobs which your qualifications allegedly fit you?
  • Maybe cutting back on your qualifications on your applications. If you want a certain job & you may be qualified maybe you can leave out certain skills you have until you get your foot in the door. Or try going for a different kind of job all together.
  • Become self-employed. You can keep more of what you charge (so you will be more competitive than larger firms) and work when you like. What is your trade/profession? It may be that there is something related but simpler you can do, e.g. I am an accountant but I know that I could earn the same money as a self-employed bookkeeper - and there would be a lot less stress!
  • When I was "between jobs", I went to temporary employment agencies for short term assignments. That might be something to consider while you continue to look for something in your line of expertise. Many employers who hire you short term may realize that you would be a good fit for a soon to be vacated position or a new one that they are creating.
