  • I don't believe it works that way. She would have to fly to Canada and you get married there. I've been through this with my fiance. We are engaged and went through the whole fiance visa thing. She's Canadian and I'm American. I don't get Canadian citizenship if she marries me in the U.S. Each country has their own method for obtaining citizenship. I would imagine you have to file paperwork through Immigration, like a marriage visa before she can even enter your country. We have went through the pains of this for almost 3 yeras now. It's not easy, be prepared and get knowledgeable or get a lawyer. Don't just fly over there, do it, and expect her to be able to fly back with you b/c you married her. It just doesn't work that way.
  • try to check this: http://www.gov.ph/faqs/marriage.asp I am a filipina and my Canadian boyfriend were planning to get married too so I can live in Canada with him. As what I have read, she wont be a citizen until she stayed in Canada for 5 years and apply for citizenship. What you two can do is to get married in Philippines and then she will apply for spousal sponsorship from you so that she can reside in your country until then time she can apply for citizenship. Refer to the canadian embassy website for more info for spousal sponsorship. or this: http://www.matthewjeffery.com I suggest too for you to ask assistance from your country's immigration department for more reliable information of getting married in the Philippines. Hope I somehow helped you. Best Wishes for you both.
  • You have no choice other than to prove you are married to here if you want to bring here here in shortest order. Your other alternative is to apply to bring here to canada as a congugal partner, but to do that you have to prove your relationship is more than one year and you have been living to gether as a couple. The easiest way and fastest is to get married there. If you can not prove you have known here for ayear it could be a problem. Saved emails etc are good proof. In any case the embassy wants to see as much paperwork as possible to prove you have a relationship, in cluding airline tickets, pictures of vacations and letters from friends and family acknowledging your relationship/ It takes about6 weeks for your application to reach manila and from the time they recieve it, you have 6 months to make sure all your paperwork such as marriage certificate, and legal papers are in the hands of the embassy. AFter that things go by pretty quick and she should recieve her visa. There are no short cuts to bring a gf or fiancee or even a wife to canada, everyone has to take the same path. You can expect to wait about a year in all as it takes some time to fill out the applications on both ends and she will make mistakes on her end that you must fix or they send it back to start again. She will land here as a landed immigrant. She then has to be physically in canada for 3 years plus time for any days she is out of the country , then and only then can she apply to be a canadian citizen. Good luck. Been there, done that important:::::: if you plan on getting married there you will absolutely have to have a "legal capacity" document. Ihad never heard of it until i went to get married in the philippines. Ask the philippine embassy in canada how to fufill this requirement as they wont let you get married in the phil with out one. Option Two: you can apparently get it at the canadian embassy in manila.
  • OH MY DEAR ITS SO EASY GOT LEGAL CAPACITY FROM CANADIAN EMBASSY THEN, U SHUD APPLY ALSO MARRIAGE LICENSE IN THE CIVIL RGSTRAR. THEN APPOINT A SOLEMNIZING OFFICER THEN MARRY,, WAIT UNTIL THE NSO PROCESS UR SECPA SO THAT U CAN SUBMIT IT TO CANADIAN EMBASSY....
  • I am a filipina who has a canadian boyfriend. I would like to ask if I get a tourist visa and go to canada and we'll get married there, what are the documents that I need to submit? Thanks in advance for all those who will answer.I appreciate it very much.
  • why no ceremony, they will think it is a sham marriage bud.
  • She does not become a Canadian citizen because you marry her. You must get Phillipines marriage licence and register it with the Canadian embassy. Then you may apply for landed immigrant status for her. The processing can take a few years. Once granted she may live in Canada full-time. After a period of years as landed immigrant she can apply for Canadian citizenship. She can return to Canada with you after the marriage on a tourist visa, but will have to leave the country about twice a year and re-enter to get another tourist visa. Much longer haul than you think! Been there, done that!
