    The absolute best thing you can do is to keep yourself hydrated with plain water. Hot tea with lemon will help as well. If you can do it, lemon in plain water.

    Do NOT have anything dairy, or even non-dairy. That will promote mucus production.

    Do NOT have anything with sugar, that causes your vocal cords to constrict.

    Try gargeling {sp?} with apple cider vinegar. Don't worry if you swallow a little, may taste nasty but perfectly harmless.
