What can be done about China stealing technology and trade names to manufacture 'similar' products?

Nothing. China owns at least a trillion dollars of US assets and provides cheap labor and manufacturing for scads of US companies. We don't want to mess with the Chinese. US companies should try to take whatever legal action they can against copycats. They can probably stop identical products from being sold in the US, at least. Perhaps one of these days, China will crack down on copyright infringement. Until then, there isn't much to do.
