He is a leader of his country though I am not a proper judge of his status as a world leader. All leaders have frailties and negative points about them.He looks out for the poor and under privileged in his country though he rules with an iron fist.

No. He would be considered among them, if it weren't for his personality cult. Why can't popular left wing leaders avoid resorting to fascism? It's terrible. All the nice meek and quiet ones in the Nordic countries don't get any press.

Chavez is a menace to the world. He ranks with the not so greats like Castro, oh I know, the libs are going to jump on me for that one, they revere Castro, but he is a damn menace as well. Lenin. Stalin, Mao, Castro, and now Chavez. All peas in the same pod. Chavez ranks in todays time somewhere with Kim Jong Il and Ahmadinejad as the true evil forces in the world today.
-
No. He is a fool.

not at all

I don't think he is a good leader at all. He is squandering Venezuela's windfall of oil revenue in order to bolster his personal power. If that money were well invested in infrastructure and education, instead of being flung ate a few attention grabbing projects, Venezuela would be on its way to being the most prosperous country in South America. As it is, when the oil runs out the cupboard will be bare.

I would say he's one of the best we've got.
