The largest legal tender is 100 dollars. There were larger denominations for exchanges between financial institutions but for general use, the Ben Franklin note is the largest.

The hundred dollar bill is the largest bill offered to the public by the Mint. 1000 bills were discontinued in 34 and taken out of circulation in 69. 100,000 bills are used by the Federal Reserve banks to do transaction between different branches.
