How can some people be so CERTAIN that God is omni-benevolent, omnipotent, and omniscient? (I think there is a higher power, but I find impossible to believe in the traditional Christian God)

The Certainty, you are seeking comes to those that know Him, not about Him. I will answer you from a bible verse since it really is my answer as a person of faith (and that was your question). Hebrews 11:1 says that "faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." to the extent that i am certain of anything it is by faith and that faith is confirmed and affirmed by and through my inner experience and encounter with God. That is not to say that there are not elements of evidence that have led me to this place of faith, but at some point, I took a leap beyond my understanding and found that I landed on solid ground. I hope this answers your question at least to help you know my perspective. Good question.

Well, let's see.... There has to be a higher power, right? There just has to be an uncaused causer, as in One who started the whole chain of being. There just HAS to be someone above all others, in every way. Contingent beings are caused (every contingent being depends on another being). "Not every being can be contingent (there must be something that isn't dependent on anything else.) There must be a being which is necessary to cause contingent beings. Therefore, this necessary being is God." also;"Nothing can move itself. For any object to move, something must move the object. Therefore, If any object moves, then there must be a mover." "There exists things that were caused or created by other things. Nothing can be the cause of itself (or create itself). There can not be an endless string of things causing other things to exist. Therefore, there must be an uncaused first cause." It's all simply logic. As you call it, the Traditional Christian God is a perfect example of the above described. honesty is the best policy. many people who claim to know and believe in him, have the same doubts. no one is born loving him. this love, as well as other qualities such as a strong faith in him have to be cultivated. it starts with research of bible truths. i understand you for not believing just for believing sakes. i promise you that after you study the bible you will begin to understand all these things about God. to begin with you can learn his name. i highly recommend you obtain a copy of a book titled "what the bible really teaches." you can speak to a jehovah's witnesss and he will get one for you. or call the local kingdom hall. this in no way means that you have to become a member of our organization. this is just for research purposes. the book contains the basic truths taught in the bible. after reading this book you will be able to come to an intelligent decision as to what kind of God Jehovah is.

I appreciate the notion that there may be some kind of higher power but the traditional child's fantasy of religion, white robes, and "heaven" are absolutely ridiculous is appreciated.

A good question...The so called ' Christianity' we see promoted these days is mainly false...because too many wacky ideas of men have been added to what the Bible really says...and all to promote the false trinity idea. Many scriptures debunk the three equal gods situation... And Genesis 1 ; 1 states clearly...what we see is what God [ a title, not a name...Exodus 6:3 ] created...Therewasa nothing before and so no previous ' creator' Because everything, no matter how complicated, MUST be built...nothing exists by chance. (Hebrews 3:4) Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God. This applies to our physical world and even to angels...but NOT to a creating God... Beyond this there can only be faith in what the Bible REALLY teaches.

I do too and meditation and self-hypnosis can also bring on a sense of well-being and "inner peace" without the religion that religious people seem to think is the source of that feeling because they "know what they know". From the beginning of time people have been struggling to find that higher power so they do! One of the deal breakers for me is that of the hundreds, if not thousands, of religions in the world, every single one of them claims to be the only "real" religion and ALL the rest are totally bogus. Only one religion will save people from hell....really? 90% of the people in the world will burn in hell and only ONE religion will see redemption. That is remarkably consistent to all religions. Why? Because each religion is a power base and source of wealth. Here's a tip: Jesus will NEVER return to earth because even if he did/does what religion will turn over the control (including power and wealth) of their religion to Jesus or anybody else. It is naïve to think the Pope or any religious leaders will bow to the messiah because it’s not about religion, it’s about control and wealth.

Then go for the Budhist religion. All you have to do is do a little research via Google and find alternatives religions and search through them until you find one that you connect with. Its not difficult.
