yes..but those weren't quite the words I used.

Oh yeah!

I got no problem being an arsehole and telling a person to shaddup. It would kinda be like Sylvester the cat when he would say it.

I have been learning to speak up and thanks to Answerbag and all my Friends here + 5

I have been known to say enough then walk away!!!!!!!!!
-
If they are being a bully, I stand up turn around and simply walk away. If they are being a jerk and being stupid, I certainly may say something like" Oh, will you stop that crazy talk....you sound like a real jerk"..then laugh, change the subject and move on. If they don't take this huge hint..I say "I've had it with you. Leave me alone." and walk away.

I have to do it to my parents all the time. Usually it's an "I'm not listening to this any longer. We'll continue this conversation when you can be more rational. Good bye" followed by their, "FINE, GO! AND DON"T COME BACK!!" It's so hard raising parents these days.

Yes, when my father was going on and on and swearing a lot and I had a family with lots of little kinds in the car and we ALL didn't need to hear that. I said stop, enough, to him and "drive on" to my friend at the steering wheel.

Yes.

Yep, many times. I rarely fall victim to that kind of crap. I simple turn and walk away, or tell them I'm hanging up - then do so.
-
No i don't, I like to fight with them,I just have to know what the heck there problem is.

Yes I have. One of the basic rights of the assertive mentality is the right to say " I don't care". When soemone gets in my face or is a jerk/bully, I will look at them say " I don't care, and you are being an idiot", then walk away.

Yes - but usually it has only been over the telephone! (I am an awful coward in person : (
-
I do, and it is easy to change the subject tactfully, and this way there is no issues brought up and peace remains between all involved.

Certainly. I am a kind of "go off yourself" kind of guy. I will walk away from any jerk who is just running off at the mouth. (sticks and stones). But, there are occasions when you are not allowed to walk away. For these occasions, I can quickly revert to my boot camp training. There is a quick three movement operation which will surgically remove the yahoo from your field of operation. I was trained in it well. I can still use it in an instant. It is just one of those things you carry with you that enables you to keep a smile on your face and walk around with confidence. (See comment).

Absolutely. It takes less strength say 'stop' than it does to endure it!
