  • Once i get to sleep it is ok, however it is very noisy during the day sometimes, so it makes it difficult to fall asleep. Getting enough sleep can be hard, too. I find it hard to sleep at nights now.
  • I used to do a night shift at a printers, it took time to sleep during the day, but your body gets used to it fairly quick. When I moved to the day shift and had to sleep at night I found that harder for some reason :-)
  • I read once that in order to get truly good sleep, you have to sleep in the dark - dark enough not to be able to see your hand in fron to f you. I've found that this is true for me, so I would guess that sleeping during the day is less beneficial, unless you live in a cave ;o) My husband had a night job for a while, and he got more sleep than I did hour for hour, but he was always exhausted. Normally, he needs less sleep than I do, so I think that supports my idea that sleeping during the day isn't very good. That, and there's more likely to be noises to wake you up during the day, most people are awake during the day so I think you're more likely to be woken up, again, unless you live in a cave (alone).
  • I used to work @ TARGET from 12am to 8am. It was definately harder to sleep during the day because its light out and the dark relaxes some of us. Then again you get sort of a long weekend because u r off on friday morning and don't go back to work until Sun. night which is sort of a downer in and of itself.
  • I found, when I had permanent midnight to eight am hours some years ago, that it was a 'mixed bag' when it came to sleep, as it were. I certainly never had any problems with insomnia - I used to be out like the veritable light when I would hit the hay - but the 'quality' of my sleep was not as good as when it occurs at night-time. I slept less hours, and felt..I can only describe it as 'gritty' for a couple of hours when I did arise. However - I have to say what I really enjoyed about working nights was the fact that none of the usual 'petty tyrants' inhabited that environment. Nocturnal working seems to appeal to more relaxed individuals than one usually finds in Management, and basically the Company was also happy because left to ourselves we actually produced more than we would during the hustle and bustle and distractions of the daytime.
  • Harder, especially if I bring any stress home. But what I'm really finding hard, is making time to work out. My peek energy time now falls into the peek dadline time at work. Been working evenings less than a year. I'm sure I'll catch on soon.
  • I could never get used to sleeping in the daytime. I felt ill all the time.
  • As a police officer, I work erratic shifts, a great many of them are graveyard. I can't sleep a wink during the day, regardless how tired I am, or how dark the room is.
  • My wife has a terrible time getting enough sleep daily because things she finds necessary to do must be done during the day.
  • I worked 3rd shift for 3 years. A year and a half was 12 hour shifts from 8p-8a. It was very hard for me to sleep during the day with either job. I have never been one to sleep a lot and that fact alone made it difficult for me to sleep during the day.
  • I am an insomniac... from birth. It is easier for me to sleep through the day, but only slightly so. But my normal hours to function well since the day of my birth have been between 12noon and 4AM.
  • I worked night shift for 23 years. I never had a problem, I can sleep anytime.
  • i work in a hotel,I work from 11pm to 7am and it has been really hard for me to sleep after i get off from work, i go to bed as soon as i get home but my mind is thinking all the time about bills that i need to pay, stuff that i need to do at work etc. sometimes i don't sleep at all, sometimes i sleep 5 hours or less. and there are times were i sleep 13-14 hours straight so it's really hard for me to get good sleep, i recommend her to visit the doctor, thats's what i will do soon, cuz besides the sleeping problems im starting to have a bad mood lately i've been depress too and i feel sick all the time, loosing weight and looking like a zombie, so that's my opinion, i hope this helps. bye
  • THe hardest part for me when I worked nights wasn't myself being able to sleep during the day, but the family either making noise or flat out waking me up for something because they were all awake during those hours. When I had to work nights and got the opportunity to be home alone or sleep in a hotel I had no issue with it.
  • i work the night shift from 10pm til 6am. I am a care manager at an assisted living home. Its easy to go to sleep, but i want to get up after awhile and get things done around the house and then pick my child up from daycare. I typically get 25hrs a week of sleep.
