If you all had to write a plot for a new Star Trek movie, how would you resurrect the dead Captain Kirk and make him the hero of the movie?

Let's see...there are two tried-and-true ways of doing it: Time travel. We go back, get Kirk, come forward, do whatever we need him to do, then go back again and drop him off. Could even throw a little Vulcan mindwiping in there to make sure he didn't remember his trip to the future. Transporter accident. At least once in the past there has been a transporter accident that created an exact duplicate of a person. We find ourselves on some world the Enterprise visited in the past and discover that an exact copy of Kirk is still there. You could even say that something about the planet causes people to age very slowly so you could put the new movie anywhere you want, timeline-wise.

Picard has had Kirk with him all along. Kirk put his mind into Picard before he died like Spock did with McCoy in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Have Picard move him into a new body, or maybe into a Data like robot body.

In the Intergalactic Space Museum of the federated planets, there is a vial in the vault that contains a sample of Kirk's DNA. In an evil plot to once and for all destroy the human race on Earth, the Cardassians in league with the Romulans have devised a way to replicate Kirk by use of a Changeling that they have induced to carry out their twisted plot. They give the Changeling a phony BS story about time dimensional warp mumbo jumbo and this Changeling has all of Starfleet fooled. Meanwhile this Changeling is sending back critical data to this maniacal alliance. This ersatz Kirk is gathering data at a disturbing pace . the fate of humanity lies in the balance...
