  • The Smith Machine is the right choice to use when you don't have a spotter. It is more close to doing the primary bench press which is the " make or break" exercise of any other chest exercises in a fitness or weightlifting/bodybuilding gym. But don't use this machine on a regular basis because it will have some side effects when you do the primary bench press exercise. Lifting weight on the Smith Machine will reduce some of the weight resistance and when it comes the time for you to do the primary bench press, you are going to feel more resistance on it.
