In a hit-and-run accident, if someone was afraid that the person they hit would hurt them in revenge, would that be a valid defense?

    The defense you described would not be a valid defense, unless more was involved than revenge. if the other driver came at you with a weapon, this would be a legal defense. you have a right to protect yourself, in any event. in 40 years of making traffic accident reports, the only incidents i have witnessed were disorderly behavior. also, drunk drivers. its rare for this to happen, but it definitely could. the answer to your question is defensive driving and not be involved in the first place.
