Remember that children don't come pre-programmed. When they do things they shouldn't, you need to teach them that they shouldn't do that. And be firm. Don't back down- or they will learn quickly that your word doesn't mean anything. Once they realize that you mean business, they should, in theory, be more likely to listen when you speak to them.

Don't try. Instead, convince her that it is the best thing to do because there are benefits in it for her, and not-so-good things if she doesn't. Don't threaten. Don't bribe. Just reason with her. This is how she will learn to reason. A child knows when you don't respect them and their intellect. They don't know how to govern themselves yet, but they can reason and make choices. But you have to teach her how. She will learn quickly!
