It's sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. The time when orthodox Jews do nothing. What that means varies by the flavor. Some just won't work, some won't use electricity. Some just won't flip a light switch -- it's weird, but interesting...they don't have a problem if the light is ON....but won't do the 'work' to turn it on. It's also the origin of the word Sabbath.

Shabbat is the Jewish Sabbath, beginning each Friday at sunset and ending each Saturday at nightfall. Orthodox Jews do not perform various types of regular activities on Shabbat- to "rest" as G-d "rested" from His Creation on the Seventh Day (Genesis 1). These activities include things like driving, writing, using the phone. Shabbat is a time for spiritual reflection, quality time with the family and a break from routine.
