  • Yes you are I am afraid! To take part in the olympics means being the best of the best, to become this takes MANY years not just 5. I think you would be better off buying a ticket to watch it from the stands. OFC I would love you to proove me wrong and go there and win a Gold for our countries, but I doubt you could.
  • Even a total failure to make the team is NOT a waste of time ... go for it, and do NOT hold back. Keep your dreams as alive as you are !!! I tried for decades ... The closest I ever got was an unofficial "non-event" bronze for the 1 kilometer "torch bearer" run for the 1988 Calgary Olympics (many thousands of Canadians ran 1 km. with the torch as it crossed ALL of Canada), I was the third fastest torch runner in Canada, but many years of bow hunting on cross country skis for weeks at a time with my native friends, and extremely accurate rifle shooting in the military was not enough for me to make the biathalon team ... and my occasional Judo mixed with REAL martial arts was just not as good as those who JUST "played" at Judo. So I am done trying for the Olympics, but at least, with the torch run, I was part of the Olympics, so I called it a partial victory and quit while I was ahead.
